We offer our workshops at various National Trust venues (Gibside, Crook Hall Gardens and Souter Lighthouse), welcoming people from across the North East including Newcastle, Sunderland, South Shields and Durham.

Our workshops are informative for those wanting to learn more, supportive for those wanting to have a go, and always relaxing if you just want to take a bit of time to yourself.

I demonstrate professional floristry techniques and share the tips and tricks to help you get the best out of your designs.

  • Dahlia Flower Arranging Workshop at Crook Hall Gardens

    Celebrate the beauty of late summer at our Dahlia Flower Arranging Workshop at Crook Hall. Set within the inspiring surroundings of these beautiful historic gardens, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the colour, texture, and abundance of the season.

    Working with seasonal dahlias and complementary late summer flowers, you'll create your own floral arrangement while exploring the importance of line and movement in floral design. With gentle, supported guidance throughout, you'll learn how to use shape, structure, and placement to create a natural, balanced arrangement full of character and seasonal charm.

    Sustainability is at the heart of this workshop, and we will be working with plant-based Oasis Renewal Floral Foam to support your design. Surrounded by the inspiring planting schemes and beautiful borders of Crook Hall Gardens, you'll be encouraged to take inspiration from the landscape and interpret it in your own unique way.

    Whether you're new to floristry or looking to develop your skills, this relaxed and creative workshop offers the perfect opportunity to slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy a few mindful hours surrounded by flowers. You'll leave with your own late summer arrangement, ready to take pride of place in your home.

    Our workshops at The Northern Flower Garden are always fun and supportive where I demonstrate professional floristry techniques, share the tips and tricks and we’ll keep the creativity flowing with crafted drinks and homemade bakes from the National Trust team at Crook Hall Gardens.

    Duration: up to 2 hours

    Venue Details: Car parking charges apply at Crook Hall Gardens for non-National Trust members. On arrival, please show proof of your workshop booking at the welcome buildings to gain free admission and can our National Trust members please also have your membership card scanned as usual.

    Accessibility: Access to Crook Hall Gardens is not step free, if you have any mobility concerns, please get in touch.

    Biosecurity: To help protect and conserve Crook Hall’s Gardens, all plant material that enters and leaves the site is bagged and sealed. Therefore we will ask you to also seal your designs in the bags we will provide as you leave.

  • Autumn Terrarium Workshop at Souter Lighthouse

    £50 per person

    Our workshops at The Northern Flower Garden are always fun and supportive where I demonstrate professional floristry techniques, share the tips and tricks and we’ll keep the creativity flowing with our own teas, coffees and cake.

    Duration: up to 2 hours.

    Venue Details: Car parking charges apply at Souter Lighthouse for non-National Trust members.

    We will be located in the Whitburn Coastal Conservation Centre beside Souter Lighthouse, not the actual Lighthouse.

    This venue is fully accessible for all visitors, with step-free access throughout.

  • Autumn Wreath Workshop at Souter Lighthouse

    Welcome in the season at our Autumn Wreath Workshop at Souter Lighthouse, where we'll celebrate the rich colours and textures of autumn with a beautiful fresh wreath for your home.

    In this relaxed and creative workshop, you'll learn how to bind a selection of seasonal foliage onto a freshly mossed wreath ring, creating a natural and abundant base for your design. With supported guidance throughout, you'll be shown each step of the process, making this workshop suitable for both beginners and those with previous floristry experience.

    Once your foliage base is complete, you'll have the opportunity to personalise your wreath with a choice of autumnal embellishments, adding colour, texture, and your own creative touch. Whether you prefer a beautifully natural look or something a little more decorative, you'll create a unique wreath to welcome family and friends throughout the season.

    Set against the magnificent coastal views at Souter Lighthouse, this workshop offers the perfect opportunity to slow down, embrace the changing season, and enjoy a few mindful hours immersed in creativity.
