FLORISTRY WORKSHOPS ACROSS THE NORTH EAST
We offer our workshops at various National Trust venues (Gibside, Crook Hall Gardens and Souter Lighthouse), welcoming people from across the North East including Newcastle, Sunderland, South Shields and Durham.
Our workshops are informative for those wanting to learn more, supportive for those wanting to have a go, and always relaxing if you just want to take a bit of time to yourself.
I demonstrate professional floristry techniques and share the tips and tricks to help you get the best out of your designs.

Seasonal Bouquet Making Workshop
Saturday 9th May 2026 | 11am
Gibside Stables, Newcastle
£55 per person
💥 Gibside Stables is approximately a 20-minute walk from the reception building and includes mixed terrain and a steep-incline, so we’d recommend arriving onsite at least 30 minutes before the workshop begins and wearing sturdy footwear.
Join us for a relaxed and creative morning at Gibside Stables, where we’ll celebrate the beauty of late spring through flowers.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own hand-tied bouquet using the trusted spiral technique, before weaving your seasonal flowers through a delicate curly willow armature, an organic structure inspired by the nesting season of spring.
Surrounded by the stunning grounds of the Gibside estate, you’ll be encouraged to slow down, take inspiration from nature, and enjoy the process of creating something truly personal. Once complete, you’ll carefully gift wrap your bouquet in an aqua bubble, ready to take home and enjoy or share with someone special.
Whether you’re completely new to floristry or simply looking for a creative escape, this workshop is designed to be welcoming, inspiring, and full of creativity.

Duration: up to 2 hours
Venue Details: When you arrive at Gibside, please show proof of your workshop booking at the welcome buildings to gain free admission to the site. If you’re a National Trust member, please have your membership card scanned at admissions as usual.
Accessibility: An access bus is sometimes available to help visitors reach the Stables. It runs from the Market Place up to the Stables at quarter past the hour, and back again at half past the hour. If you’d like to use the bus, please email gibside@nationaltrust.org.uk before your visit to confirm it’s running on the day. If it isn’t, we’ll do our best to help arrange an alternative for you.
Biosecurity: To protect and conserve the landscape of Gibside, we bag and seal all plant material that enters and leaves the site. Therefore we ask you to also seal your designs in the bags we will provide as you leave.

Create Your Own Mini Woodland Garden Workshop

Step into the charm of a woodland retreat at our new Woodland Tabletop Garden Workshop, inspired by the enchanting gardens of Crook Hall.
In this hands-on session, you’ll create a planted design for your home, featuring lush ferns, trailing ivy, and other amazing greenery, artfully arranged with bark, twigs, moss, pinecones, and woodland-inspired decorative touches.
Because we’re working with living plants, your creation will be a lasting addition to your space, but it’s also easy to deconstruct and refresh whenever you fancy a change.
Along the way, you’ll learn tips for designing with planted materials, exploring texture, layering, and natural composition to bring a touch of the woodland indoors.
Whether you’re new to planting or just looking for a creative escape, this workshop is designed to be welcoming and inspiring, perfect for anyone who loves nature and wants to bring a little of it home.

Summer Meadow Flower Arrangements

Join us at Gibside Stables for the return of this ever-popular workshop, inspired by the effortless beauty of a summer meadow.
In this relaxed and creative session, we’ll work with a stunning selection of seasonal flowers, arranging them in a long, low tray to capture that soft, natural, just-picked-from-the-garden feel.
Using plant-based Oasis Renewal Floral Foam, you’ll learn how to build a flowing, meadow-style arrangement, full of movement, texture, and colour.
With the beautiful summer displays across the Gibside estate as your inspiration, you’ll be encouraged to create your own unique interpretation, bringing a little piece of summer indoors.

Celebrate the abundance of summer at our Summer Bouquet Workshop, set against the stunning coastal backdrop of Souter Lighthouse.
In this relaxed and creative session, you’ll learn how to create a beautiful hand-tied bouquet using the classic spiral technique, working with a vibrant selection of seasonal flowers.
With the sweeping views to inspire you, this workshop offers the perfect opportunity to slow down, switch off, and enjoy a few mindful hours immersed in flowers.
You’ll be guided step by step as you build your bouquet, before finishing it with a carefully gift-wrapped aqua bubble, ready to take home and enjoy.

Dried Seascape Arrangements

Create an elegant, long-lasting arrangement at our Dried Seascape Workshop, inspired by the natural beauty of the coast at Souter Lighthouse.
In this creative session, you’ll work with a thoughtfully curated selection of sustainable dried materials and grasses, styled in soft, bleached tones to reflect a relaxed seaside aesthetic.
Your arrangement will be carefully built using preserved moss and chicken wire, allowing you to create a natural, textured display.
With gentle guidance throughout, you’ll explore how to balance shape, tone, and texture to achieve a piece that feels both effortless and refined.
Your finished design will make a striking table centrepiece—one that can be enjoyed in your home long after the season has passed.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of an English summer garden at our Summer Flower Arrangement Workshop, set within the beautiful grounds of Crook Hall.
In this creative and hands-on session, you’ll explore how to construct your own natural container using fresh foliage, shaping it to form a beautifully organic base for your design.
Once your structure is complete, you’ll arrange a selection of seasonal summer flowers within it, using plant-based Oasis Renewal Floral Foam to support your design.
With guidance throughout, you’ll learn how to balance colour, texture, and form to create an arrangement that is full of seasonal character.
